Solution and Suspension

All solutions consist of 2 components, the solvent (the substance that does the dissolving which makes up the majority of the solution – usually liquid, but can also be solid or gas)and the Solute (the substance that dissolves – can be solid, liquid or gas).

Solution

Examples

Stainless steel is defined as a steel alloy with a minimum of 1.10.5% to 11% chromium content by mass

2. Water+ Sugar= Sugar syrup

3. Nitrogen + Oxygen, carbon dioxide and other gases=air

Solubility

The solubility of a substance in a solvent is the maximum quantity of that substance which can dissolve in 100 g of the solvent at a given temperature

units: g / 100 g)

Suspension

It is described as white precipitate in a colourless solution
